Care instructions for Dentures

If you wear dentures, it’s essential to keep them clean to prevent stains, bad odors, and gum irritation. Here are some key care tips:

  1. Daily Cleaning: Brush all surfaces of your dentures once a day using a suitable denture brush. This helps maintain cleanliness and hygiene.

  1. Overnight Care: Remove your dentures before sleeping and store them in water or a denture cleansing solution. This helps keep them moist and prevents warping.

  1. Mouth Rinse: Rinse your mouth with a warm saltwater solution in the morning, after meals, and at bedtime to promote oral health.

  1. Partial Dentures: If you have partial dentures, care for them in the same way as full dentures. Pay extra attention to the areas under the clasps, as bacteria can accumulate there.

  1. Adjusting to Eating: It’s normal for dentures to feel awkward initially. Start by eating soft, non-sticky foods, cutting them into small pieces, and chewing slowly on both sides of your mouth. Be cautious, as dentures may reduce sensitivity to hot foods and liquids.

  1. When to Seek Help: If you experience ongoing difficulties with eating, talking, or wearing your dentures after a few weeks, please visit your dentist for adjustments.

  1. Replacement and Repairs: Over time, dentures may need to be replaced or readjusted due to changes in your mouth tissues. Avoid attempting to repair them at home, as this can cause further damage and discomfort.
